How to open a savings account at Bpi in 5 easy steps!
Having a Bank Account nowadays has been a necessity in itself. Even I, myself, had my own bank account when I was younger. My nieces had their bank accounts opened by their parents (without them knowing) even when they were still a baby. Yep, everyone has the right to have their own bank accounts. Even you.
I am the kind of person who loves seeing my bank balance growing. It’s like an achievement every time I reach an amount I never thought I could ever have at that age. As I have said before, I am a kuripot, and I have loved saving money even before I reached the age of 10. Yep, that young. Of course I didn’t have a bank account that time yet for the following reasons: we are poor, the town I grew up with doesn’t have any banks at the vicinity, and we only go to the city once in a blue moon. But I have this wallet, given as a gift by one of my big sisters, where I keep all of my savings.
Until one of coolest days of my life came, I was able to open a bank account of my own. It all started at BPI. The photo above is a proof of my loyalty to the bank, and I’ll show you how to open one.
You don’t need to have a large amount of money to start saving for you can already open an ATM-only account for as low as Php500 with a maintaining balance of Php3,000.
Step-by-step Process and Requirement in applying for a Bpi Savings Account
1. Make a personal appearance and bring the following requirements.
- Two (2) Valid IDs and photocopy of them (preferably government issued IDs)
- Two (2) copies of 1×1 or 2×2 latest photo
- Proof of billing address (ex: electricity bill, water bill, etc,.)
2. Fill out the application form with the required information.
You can start practicing your signature for you will need to provide your three (3) identical signature specimens.
3. Prepare atleast Php500.00 for the initial or opening balance.
Please take note that your account will only be allowed one month before the rule on “maintaining balance” will be applied. Incase your opening balance is Php1,000, the Php500 will be placed on hold or non-withdrawable for a month to make sure your account will not be deactivated. Don’t worry for after a month, everything will be withdrawable. However, you must comply with the maintaining balance to avoid any charges.
4. Allow 2-3 days to have your ATM account activated.
I received the ATM kit only a few minutes after my application has been approved, but will have to wait for 2-3 days for my account to be activated. However, you can already do the 5th step on the very same day.
5. Change your 4-digit temporary PIN.
Upon receiving the ATM kit, the attached document includes the temporary 4-digit PIN which is only valid for 2 weeks so make sure to change it to your preferred PIN right away. (Tip: Do NOT use your birthday as your PIN)
(Optional) Enroll your new savings account to BPI online and phone banking.
This is probably one of the most amazing things I love about BPI. I can track all of my transactions online. No need to fall in-line at the teller machines just to check your bank balance and all. You can even maintain just one (1) online account for all of your BPI accounts incase you have a lot, like mine.
And that’s it! You finally have a BPI Savings Account! I’m sure you’re excited to start growing your bank digits right away! Easy right?
